SLA@Simmons is the Simmons student chapter of the Special Library Association, located in Boston, MA. We host events for students who are interested in careers in special libraries and alternative information science paths. SLA@Simmons works very closely with SLA New England to provide access to a wide array of panels, lectures, dine-around and networking opportunities.
Special librarians are information professionals who work outside the realm of school, general academic, and public libraries. They are a vast and diverse group including solo librarians. Law firms, emerging technology and start-up businesses, specialized academic libraries, taxonomy and indexing services, advertising firms, health-care and hospital services all hire librarians and information scientists.
We maintain an online presence on Facebook, Twitter (@SLASimmons), and our Blog to keep our members informed about upcoming events, new developments in the profession and job opportunities.
