The Tibetan Nyingma Institute was founded by Tibetan Lama Tarthang Tulku in 1972. For nearly forty years, the Institute has been a gateway to Buddhist teachings, offering classes and workshops specifically tailored by Tarthang Tulku to best communicate traditional knowledge to a Western audience.

These programs have been organized into eight fields of study: Buddhist Studies; Nyingma Psychology; Nyingma Meditation; Knowledge of Freedom; Time, Space, & Knowledge; Kum Nye (Tibetan Yoga), Skillful Means; and Tibetan Language. We offer introductory and advanced programs in all eight fields, and frequently feature weekend workshops and evening talks on Sunday that provide short introductions to the fields.

No religious commitment is required to participate at the Nyingma Institute.
