The Learning Disabilities Association of Kentucky, Inc.(LDA) is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization that has been in existence for over 40 years. It was established in 1966 and has had a charter under four different names. The current name has been in effect since 1990.
The organization was originally brought about to provide counseling and support for families that needed advice about their children’s different learning styles. Our extensive lending library and a video/audio rental service has been the standard for information in this area for years. However, the advent of the information age has made it so that LDA has had to branch out into tutoring and seminars in order to maintain service and visibility for this area. However, we still maintain a large inventory of materials on learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, dyslexia and related subjects.
LDA provides many of its services at no charge to families, children, adults, and professionals who work with learning differences, such as attention deficit disorder and hyperactivity. It provides educational programs and services such as monthly support groups, self-esteem training, and academic enrichment programs. LDA has a lending library, information on learning differences, and video rental. LDA also offers Professional Development Seminars . It is an affiliate of LDA of America.
The mission of LDA is to bring individuals together and work to improve conditions for those with learning differences, to share knowledge, disseminate information, provide programs, and seek to affect policies related to learning differences.
LDA maintains a large inventory of materials on learning disabilities, including a lending library and a video/audio rental service. In addition, information on our website and support groups are available.
