Juma Ventures
Founded in 1993 in San Francisco, Juma Ventures (Juma) strives to break the cycle of poverty by paving the way to work, education and financial capability for youth across America. As the nation’s largest youth serving social enterprise, Juma operates concession businesses at major sports venues with the sole purpose of providing employment and job training to young people who are at risk of disconnection from school and work. Alongside the job, Juma provides youth financial literacy programming and education and career supportive services ensuring that they are set on a career path.
Today, Juma serves up to 1,000 young people across its six U.S. sites (Atlanta, Houston, Sacramento, San Francisco/Bay Area, San Jose and Seattle) and has been recognized with numerous awards including the National Youth Employment Coalition’s PEPNet Award for Promising and Effective Practices, the National Organization of the Year from the Social Enterprise Alliance and the winner of the Social Impact Exchange ‘Scaling Business Plan’ competition for its national expansion efforts.
