Jamaica Awareness Association of California

Jamaica Awareness Association of California (“JAAC”) is a non-profit charitable organization pursuant to section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  Founded in 1987, JAAC is made up of volunteers who are dedicated to improving the lives of the under-privileged, primarily in the areas of health and education.  JAAC is a leading organization in the United States whose mission is to provide assistance to those in need in our local communities, and also on the island of Jamaica.

Each year, JAAC travels to Jamaica on an Education Mission and a Medical Mission.  The Education Mission team conducts teacher training seminars, provides computers and school supplies to numerous primary and secondary schools, and interviews and selects candidates for three annual scholarships sponsored by JAAC.  The Medical Mission team, which is comprised of medical professionals, travels to rural communities to provide medical screenings, laparoscopic surgeries, dental care, eye exams, and health education.

Annually, JAAC  participates in several charity projects in Los Angeles such as health fairs, career days at local schools, student scholarships, and holiday drives to provide food, clothing, and gifts to those in need.
