Why Indy Connect Now?
Jobs: An improved transit system will benefit the local economy, encourage new investment and improve our ability to compete with other cities to attract new businesses and new jobs to our region. It will also connect people in our workforce to job opportunities.
Options: In the face of high gas prices, people need more convenient and less expensive transportation options. For some people, driving is not an option and an improved mass transit system is essential to provide greater access to jobs, healthcare, education and recreation.
Congestion: As our region’s population continues to grow we will need more transportation options to ease traffic congestion and make our roadways and neighborhoods safer. A strong public transit system will provide a vital connection between Indianapolis and its suburbs.
Competitiveness: Indianapolis is the 12th largest city in the country but our bus system currently ranks 89th. To keep Indianapolis a championship city, able to compete for new businesses and jobs, we need to invest in a modern transit system.
