Hudson River Rising is a group of women; mothers, professionals, daughters, girl friends. We evolved out of our shared commitment to end violence against women and girls.
Our 2012 V-Day benefit performance of "The Vagina Monologues" and our 2013 "Dance Your A** Off" dance party combined raised nearly $50,000, for our beneficiary, Hope's Door. Hope's Door is a private, non-profit organization that works to end domestic violence and to empower survivors to achieve safety, independence and healing from the trauma of abuse.
On February 14, 2013, in celebration of the 15th Anniversary of V-Day, Hudson River Rising led women, men and children of our community in the "Break the Chain " dance uniting us with one billion men and women across the globe to demand an end to violence against women and girls.
Now we are RISING for justice. Because we are over it! We stand with more than one billion women and girls on the planet, and with those who love them, to say ENOUGH! Our individual reasons for risinging differs. Our experiences and histories are varied, but our desire for all women and girls to feel safe, empowered and proud unites us.
