It’s not always possible to trace history back over 250 years, but that’s exactly what the Historic Smithton Inn, in Ephrata, PA, is doing in 2013.
Built in 1763, this tavern turned bed and breakfast is filled with memories and experiences long forgotten over the centuries. Only three families have ever owned the Smithton Inn and the current caretakers are looking forward to celebrating the history of their Inn with the community.
“For us, celebrating our B&B’s 250th anniversary won’t simply focus on our own property, it will be a celebration of the Ephrata Community and its history, growth and development over the years” says Rebecca Gallagher, Innkeeper of the Historic Smithton Inn. “That’s why we’re planning a number of special events throughout the year where we can both celebrate with and give back to the community we call home.”
Gallagher has planned over half a dozen special events in 2013, in honor of the 250th anniversary, including a summertime Gala. All the events will benefit local charities and non-profit organizations.
