GlobeMed at the University of Washington

GlobeMed at the University of Washington was founded in 2011, and is one of 50 GlobeMed chapters working to improve the health of people living in poverty around the world. We work together with the Women's Development Association (WDA) located in Phnom Penh, Cambodia to promote health education in the surrounding 15 communities of the Prey Veng province.

Women's Development Association is a non-profit, non-political, and non-governmental organization that was established by a group of impoverished women in Cambodia. These women joined together with the purpose of improving the living condition of people living in slums surrounding Phnom Penh. WDA hopes to empower people of low socioeconomic standing and those living with HIV/AIDS. They also work towards educating people about new preventative behaviors and how to seek proper health care. These goals are strengthened by education promotion for the whole family and peace advocacy within the community.
