The City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) is an NCAA Division III and NJCAA Division III conference with 15 members that reach across all five boroughs of New York City. Since officially coming into existence in 1987, the conference has been amongst the leaders in Division III with initiatives that focus on the student as much as the athlete in student-athlete. The conference sponsors 19 Four-Year College Championships, 13 Community College Championships, the Michael Steuerman Scholar-Athlete Awards Dinner, the Basketball Press Luncheon at the Water Club, the SAAC Leadership Seminar, a CUNY-Wide Intramurals Championship Series, and the CUNYAC Golf Classic. With the help of nine corporate sponsors, the conference has been ahead of the competition. CUNYAC boasts award-winning publications, award-winning events, unmatched television exposure, and one of the best websites in Division III while continuously searching for ways to improve the quality of the athletics experience.
CUNY StudentsFirst Rewards Program
The StudentsFirst Rewards Program began with the Winter 2012-13 Championships. It is intended to increase student attendance and participation at athletic events. The program was thought up by the conference staff and interns who had experienced similar programs at other universities, most specifically St. John's University. Since its inception, CUNYAC has looked for ways of improving the program and tracking methods. Leaderboards and prizes are updated periodically throughout the year.
All CUNY students who attend a CUNYAC Championship tournament event will earn points. To earn points, you must use the online ticketing system and check-in at the ticketing desk when you arrive at the event. The name you have registered online must match the name on your CUNY ID and only current CUNY students are eligible for prizes. At the end of the semester, the points will be totaled and the top point getters will earn some amazing prizes. Any ties for first place will be broken via drawing of names with each of the top honorees receiving one of the aforementioned prizes.
