AIDS Committee of Durham Region

The AIDS Committee of Durham Region (ACDR) is a community based non-profit organization that works to support and improve the lives of those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS in the Durham Region. ACDR leads in the creation of a safe and healthy community, free from stigma, where every person has the opportunity for a meaningful and fulfilling life.

This year ACDR is celebrating its 25th Anniversary!

That’s 25 years of support, education, activism, empowerment and community development in the Durham Region. We have worked tirelessly over the last 25 years to break down the barriers surrounding HIV stigma and to ease the multiple layers of oppression that people living with HIV/AIDS face on a daily basis and while ACDR has come a long way since our inception during the early days of the AIDS movement in 1991, we still have a long way to go. One day we will see a world without HIV/AIDS, we will see a world without stigma, racism, homophobia or transphobia but until then ACDR will keep being the voice in the community for those that need it most. Help us to reach that day.
