Older and Reckless is back for another year of outstanding dance!

Celebrating great dance created by some of Canada’s most outstanding contemporary and ever-reckless dance artists, the November Older and Reckless will feature works performed by Susan Elliott, Robert Glumbek, Robin Poitras and Roger Sinha.

For this Older and Reckless, renowned choreographers and performers will come together at the Dancemakers Centre for Creation on November 27 and 28, 2010 for a weekend of dance. Moore is thrilled that Susan Elliott is travelling from Vancouver to present a work of the late Lola MacLaughlin’s, Princess. Following the Sunday matinee of Older and Reckless Moonhorse and Dancemakers will co-host the Toronto book launch of Lola Dance, featuring stunning photographs of Lola’s acclaimed creations and original writing about her work by those who loved her. The book will be a visual feast and a celebration of her significant body of work. The event will take place at 4:00pm in the Michael J. Baker studio at the Dancemakers Centre for Creation.

The Older and Reckless performances will include Dis/Locate performed by Robert Glumbek and Montreal’s Roger Sinha’s in Zeros & Ones. Dis/Locate, co-choreographed by Glumbek with Roberto Campanella, explores the loss of, and return to, “home” and the link between homeland and identity.  Sinha’s work, Zeros and Ones, embraces technological advances and fuses dance, video and poetry in a physical poetic language of the body. Regina’s Robin Poitras will perform a Tedd Robinson solo, The Sound a Circle Makes.

Older & Reckless, an informal performance series, features work from OLDER artists who continue to grow more RECKLESS as time goes by. Older & Reckless provides an opportunity for seasoned dance artists to perform short works and a chance for the audience to see some of Canada’s most celebrated senior choreographers.

Conceived by Claudia Moore, artistic director of MOonhORsE Dance Theatre, Older & Reckless is “an intimate exchange for both the performer and the observer; exciting, terrifying, and lots of fun. The performances are followed by a party with music, refreshments, and a chance to talk with the artists about work, process, and whatever else comes up!

Older & Reckless Workshop for All

GYROKINESIS® a fun class for movers of all ages and stages:

Saturday November 27, 2010 taught by Carol Anderson.

GYROKINESIS®, was designed by Juliu Horvath, a former dancer who, in the late 1970s--after a ruptured Achilles tendon brought his career to a stop--devised a series of exercises he first described as "yoga for dancers". The movements draw on yoga, gymnastics, swimming, ballet, and tai chi. The technique can help improve posture, coordination, and circulation and can benefit those who want to stay mobile and flexible as they age.
