Event Details

Come to this free event to explore the following questions: What are biofuels?  Will they really replace gasoline? What do they mean for my community? For the planet? Are they really "green"?

 Speakers:
- Tad Patzek, Professor of Geoengineering at U.C. Berkeley, on the science behind biofuels and energy.
- Miguel Altieri, Professor of Agroecology at U.C. Berkeley, on the impacts of biofuels on food security and the alternatives developed by small peasant growers to secure food sovereignty and resist the expansion of the industrial-corporate agricultural model.
- Eric Holt-Gimenez, Executive Director of Food First, on biofuels and the corporate transformation of our food and fuels systems.
- Judith Mayer, Project Coordinator of Borneo Project.

Presentations are 20min/speaker and are followed by a 45min Q&A session. Food and drink will be provided.
