Event Details

Charles Babbage, an early pioneer of computer science, harbored a pathological hatred of organ grinders.

Wallace Carothers, the inventor of nylon, kept a vial of cyanide around his neck in preparation for his own suicide.

Nikola Tesla, inventor of alternating-current electrical engines, believed he was an alien avatar born to "Earth parents."

Contraption explores the intersection between invention and insanity by examining the lives and work of several of history's greatest inventors, and then presents them as a vaudeville-styled screwball-comedy science program.

If necessity is the mother of invention, is madness the wayward father?

The show starts at 8pm. Thursdays & Previews are pay-what-you-can.
