4:00pm - 5:30pm Panel Discussion

5:30pm - 6:30pm Reception

University of Washington's Parrington Hall

EPIP Seattle is bringing Michael Edwards, author of Small Change: Why Business Won't Save the World and former director of the Ford Foundation's Governance & Civil Society Program out west for a coastal tour which includes visiting EPIP chapters in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego.

Edwards, currently the Distinguished Senior Fellow at Demos, has generated a provocative conversation on the topic of "philanthrocapitalism", calling in to question its impacts and ethics. In his recent book, Edwards challenges the idea that the market is capable of solving social inequities. Social change is incremental and takes authentic commitment, he argues; it isn't something that can be supported by a bottom line approach.

Please join EPIP Seattle and friends to hear an exciting panel of speakers launch this important conversation in our local philanthropic circle. Panelists include:

  • Cynthia Renfro, Program & Evaluation Director, Marguerite Casey Foundation
  • Adam Porsch, Program Officer, State, District Network Team, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
  • Zeke Spier, Executive Director, Social Justice Fund NW

Register here! This event is free for all dues-paying EPIP members, University of Washington Evans' School students, and members of the Social Justice Fund NW.

EPIP Seattle would like to thank our generous sponsors for supporting this event.
