Class Description:
Learn the basics to making wire work jewelry, from earrings to bracelets and necklaces. The class focuses on three basic wire work techniques: simple loop, wrapped loop and briolette loop. The class also covers all materials essential to good wire working. Everything you need to get you started making simple to intricate jewelry. We will complete a pair of earrings in the class.
The first hour and a half of each class session will be instruction; the remaining time can be used for practice.
Class Goals:
Learn the basic tools and techniques for creating wire work jewelry, and complete a pair of earrings.
Prerequisites:
None.
Materials:
There will be a $40 fee payable to the instructors for tools and
materials. Students taking the entire series, please note that some of these tools and materials will also be used for the rest of the series.
Instructor Biography: Sara Gaynor & Khrysti Smyth
Sara Gaynor is an all around artist coming from a dance and visual arts background, and hates writing in the third person. I've been making jewelry for myself and friends for over three years and have recently started to sell my designs with Khrysti Smyth under the name Khyamara. I spent 2009 teaching beading classes to all levels of students, and I love creating new beaders who are as addicted to this craft as I am. It's fun and it's faster than making a scarf.
Khrysti has been making jewelry since she was old enough to pick up a
piece of string and put it on her head. Since then she has explored a
wide variety of jewelry-making techniques, and recently decided to
partner with Sara Gaynor and start their own
small business, Khyamara. Khrysti is a patient and fun teacher, and
looks forward to sharing her love of wearable creativity with you!
