10:30am-12:00pm In Africa, dance is an important part of life – used in celebrations, for small gatherings, even for funerals. The movements in African dance are full-body and extremely energetic. Some moves will be familiar to belly dancers, but they are performed in a much more loose and relaxed style. In this class you will learn not only a variety of dance moves, many based on every day life, but you will also learn about the culture of West Africa and the importance of dance. Come and be prepared to afro-shimmy and move your body! Cathia served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Togo, West Africa for two years. She lived in a rural village, with no running water or electricity. Taking part in many village celebrations she learned dance from watching and participating (which entertained her neighbors to no end). When she returned to the U.S. she took up belly dance as a way to stay active, and is now an instructor and Co-Director of the Eyes of Bastet in Manhattan, KS. *Please note that this class conflicts with another class*

4:00pm-5:15pm Come learn the beautiful art of hoop dance with Ziggy, a professional hoop dance performer, instructor, and costume designer! In this hour and fifteen minute workshop, Ziggy will teach the basics of hoop dance, including basic tricks, flow, hand positions, planes, focusing and centering your energy, and so much more. Ziggy will even put together a choreographed routine combining the moves learned in the class, emphasizing flow and personal expression. 4:00pm-5:30pm What Your Momma Never Told You! Learn everything you always wanted to know about makeup ‐ but your mom never told you & you were too afraid to admit to the MAC lady that you didn’t know. We’ll start with the order that everything should be applied, then move on to application techniques for everything from blush to bronzers (and which of those you should be using), rounding out the class discussing how you know what colors and techniques will look the best with your face shape and coloring. Covering everything from why using brushes and primer are oft‐unknown key elements to why foundation is often misused (and perhaps is completely unnecessary! Gasp!), this class is packed with vital information whether you’ve never worn makeup or you started digging into your mom’s makeup bag when you were just a little girl.
