Event Details

THE ASSUMPTION Hunker down. It's comin'. The water. The hair. The kung fu. The mustaches. The Beer Chandelier. That's right. THE ASSUMPTION rises again. SOON! Coming back to the Blue for three short weeks starting next Friday, December 7th, it's the foot-stomping, ass-kicking, award-winning, s#*t hot good time of a show, THE ASSUMPTION. Presented by Refraction Arts Project, conceived and directed by Julia M. Smith and Sonnet Blanton, and very, very loosely based on Hamlet, The Assumption is the hilariously tragic story of a music-worshiping, cousin-kissing, kung fu-fighting, high-loving, Japanese/White Trash Royal family in a holler on the edge of nowhere. This time the rock is harder, the mustaches bigger, the kung fu spicier. Plus, we've got a whole new ending to choose from (Two words: Meatloaf Surprise). Bring your friends. Bring your co-workers. S*%t, bring your mom. THE ASSUMPTION Nominated for 13 Austin Critics Table Awards Winner, Best Production of a Comedy Nominated for 7 B. Iden Payne Awards Winner, Best Musical Tickets: Sliding scale $12 - $30 More info @ refractionarts.org or 512.927.1118

Refraction Arts Project

Refraction Arts Project is dedicated to creating bold new works of art across a variety of media, including film, theater, art and music. We are especially interested in the intersection of these different media as we search for new stories, new sounds and images that pulse with life. As artists we feel it is paramount to continue learning about the world in an active and vigorous fashion. To participate, openly and fully, creating a dialogue between our selves, our work, and our community. Our vision is an immediate one, one we hope offers possibility and new ways of looking at the world. We pledge to create our art with a diligence and playful fervor and to continue to build a body of work that is alive and challenging and accessible. We pledge to speak the truth as we see it, without concealment or evasion and with a fearless unashamed frontal assault upon life that will leave no room for trepidation . . . We hope you join us.
