PUNCH 59 SKETCH COMEDY & SUDDEN DEATH (Dr. Demento’s Funny #1 of the Year)
PUNCH 59 is proud to be able to bring The Rev. Bill and Betty Holland9s timeless message of intolerance and misunderstanding to New York City this holiday season. Bill and Betty’s “Interfaith Understandings”, provide a twisted, satirical ultra-right-wing take on a diverse array of topics, including Passover (“when God passed over the Jews and went right to the Christians”), Rock and Roll (“Mick Jagger and Satan are Mexicans who have come to steal American jobs”), and Mormons (who are “ruining the American institution of starter wives and trophy wives”). Always a showcase for writers, musicians, and comedians,
PUNCH 59 has performed at the Broadway Comedy Club, the Sage Theater, the Kraine, Danny’s Skylight Cabaret, and as part of the International Sketch Comedy Festival at the Laugh Factory. PUNCH 59 castmembers include Jen Ryan (NYC Fringe Outstanding Performance Award ’04), Amir Darvish (Mercury: Life and Times of a Rock God), Rik Sansone (Summer ’69), Erika Woods (Cashmere Mafia), Jill Butterfield, Rachael Marie Shaffer, Matthew J. Nichols, Jessica Edmonson, Adam P. Murphy, Ruby Mercado, and Darius Holiday.
SUDDEN DEATH is a comedy rap trio from New Jersey consisting of vocalists Tom "Devo Spice" Rockwell, Steve "Piles" Fernino, and Professor Pastronamy. SUDDEN DEATH has twice been Dr. Demento’s Funny #1 of the year” in 2002 and 2005, and they are currently the top contender for Dr. Demento9s Funny #1 of 2007, with the two most popular comedy hits of the year (“Getting Old Sucks”and “Pillagers #1”). You don9t need to be a fan of rap music to appreciate what Sudden Death does, although you do need to at least be able to tolerate it.SUDDEN DEATH recently released their sixth full length album, Die Laughing. www.suddendeath.org
