Sponsored by:
Lead
by award winning, Fashion & Beauty Photographer, Kevin Michael
Reed, this intense four-day workshop explores the essentials of fashion
& beauty photography in the studio through a series of lectures,
presentations, discussion, hands on training, and shooting. Though
there is an agenda spanning 11 hours each day, this free-form workshop
will take a shape of its own to accommodate the needs of all attendees.
Additional
topics will include: developing a concept, casting the appropriate
model for the look you're trying to achieve, selecting the appropriate
team for your concept, communicating with your team, executing a story,
post production, and submitting to magazines.
Through hands on shoots with agency models, with whom the group will cast, and supported by accomplished fashion stylists, makeup artists and hair stylists, attendees will explore the basic ideas, concepts, and components of fashion photography. The basics of one-light, high-key, and experimental lighting setups will be demonstrated and explored and attendees will walk away with at least three separate fashion stories to use in their books.
Each night, the group will discuss what they learned during the shooting period and have critiques of their work from the previous day.
The group will also take a field trip to the world renowned Museum at the International Center of Photography to explore what it is to live a photographic lifestyle.
Guest speakers will discuss Fashion Styling, Editing your Work, and Retouching and Approaching clients through effective marketing.
Guest Speakers Include:
--- to be announced ---
The Creative Team Includes:
Makeup Artist: Rachel Wood from Artists by Timothy Priano
Hair Stylist: Brian-David Daigle

As a special bonus, “The Business of Fashion Photography,” will be examined and discussed, including how to effectively market your photography, who to target with your marketing, how to estimate to win jobs, how to get the job, and how to keep your clients coming back again and again. Attendees will walk away with a book of all the essential business and planning paperwork they will need to effectively and profitably run their business.

TESTIMONIALS FROM PREVIOUS WORKSHOP ATTENDEES:
I can, without a doubt, recommend this workshop to everyone who really wants to advance in photography. It is the best workshop I have ever attended and I look forward to the next one! This workshop was really worth the journey from Switzerland to New York. -Daniel Wildhaber (NYC Studio Workshop April 2010)
A workshop that indeed ignites Passion for fashion Photography! I am a much better photographer today than the one I was a week ago! I loved Kevin, Joao, and the whole creative team and definitely am joining another workshop with them soon! -Aziza Salman (NYC Studio Workshop April 2010)
It was the relaxed atmosphere, the details about lighting setups, the use of real models, stylists, and make-up, the lack of time pressure, and the openness of sharing hard information really made this workshop excellent in every way! -David Hartcorn (December 2009 NYC Studio Workshop attendee)
“I have been a working professional for about 10 yrs and, while I always desire to learn more, I expect those moments to be rich with new information. Kevin provided a learning experience that kept me challenged and engaged throughout the entire week. The blend of theory, business and practical enables every photographer with an opportunity to strengthen upon those areas where they have greatest need. And the guest speakers provide a variety of perspectives that reinforce the key learning points. This workshop was, hands down, the best I have taken. If you’ve got the time and the dough, do this.” -Lyndon Goveas (December 2009 NYC Studio Workshop Attendee)

Kevin Michael Reed & The KMR Group, Inc.
Kevin Michael Reed is a fashion, beauty, advertising and catalog photographer based in New York City and Los Angeles.
Kevin grew up in the entertainment industry and has always had a creative mind for the visual arts: from acting to dancing, lighting design to directing. From the age of two, he was performing on the stage and won many national awards for his dance and vocal performance skills. His credits in musical theatre both on the stage and off could fill up three pages on a resume. A car accident forced him to leave the on-stage aspects of the performing arts. Having grown up with a camera in his hand documenting his travels and experiences in the performing arts, photography now took a front seat in Kevin?s life.
Directly out of high school, he was offered a position with McMillen Advertising Corporation (MAC). He immediately moved up the corporate ladder from Lead Generator to Account Executive within his first year of employment. Upon leaving MAC, he worked as a National Media Specialist at VentureDirect Worldwide, a New York City based direct marketing firm. Kevin believes that his advertising background helps him create images that appeal to the target and sell products and lifestyles for his clients. In 1999, Kevin left the corporate world to pursue his love of photography full-time.
Before opening a photography studio in Orlando’s Art District, Kevin graduated from Mid-Florida Technical Institute’s Commercial Photography Program. He has also studied fashion and commercial photography at New York City’s Fashion Insitute of Technology (FIT, a SUNY college) where he has earned an A.A.S. in Photography.
He is a member of American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP), Professional Photographers of America (PPA), Advertising Photographers of America (APA), National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP), among other professional organizations.
Kevin won two Gold Awards and the cover of the Graphis Photography Annual 2009. Most recently, Kevin’s clients have included “The Cool Book”, Rubies Costume Company, Jasz Couture, Terani Couture, Supermodels Unlimited Magazine, Sinar Bron Imaging, i.b.b.i. collection, AURA Fashions by Hila Ohana, WRecords Fashions, Gambino Apparel Group, Henri?s Cloud Nine, Innotech Systems, Mimz NYC and McMillen Advertising Corporation. He has also just completed filming of a reality television show in which he co-produced and directed.
He currently splits his time between New York City, Miami and worldwide travel for photo assignments. His most recent love is sharing his knowledge with other up and coming photographers.
