Love French?

Loathe your Accent?

Pass yourself off as a native French speaker by learning how to pronounce properly. All your hard work to learn French will be minimized if people misunderstand you. Avoid this frustration by completing the six-part Perfect Pronunciation Workshop Series. Each workshop is independent of the other, so you can take them in any order you like.

Thanks to her unique training, our instructor knows what French sounds pose particular problems to non-native speakers and, most importantly, how to fix them. She aims to have you speaking the language as well as she does!

Six-part Workshop Series:
Workshops 1 to 6 focus on specific aspects of pronunciation that inhibit learners from speaking like a native. General pronunciation rules are covered in detail: sounds, spelling, prosody, intonation, linking, rhyme & silent letters.

Workshop 1
• Block A: French Sounds and their Spelling
The goal of this workshop is to discover the French sounds and to learn how to recognize them in their written form.
• Block B: Silent Letters in French
French words are not necessarily pronounced as they appear in writing, and some letters remain silent. This workshop highlights which letters to pronounce and which ones are best left unsaid.

Workshop 2
• Block C: Liaisons: When to Link Words together
In French, liaisons can be dangerous! Learn when to link two words together and when not to.
• Block D: Accentuating your Sentences
Accentuation in French is very different from English. When does your intonation change in French? How do you punctuate your sentences accordingly? Learn how to improve your intonation and capture the musicality of French in your speech, so it flows.

Workshop 3
• Block E: Vowel and Consonant Combinations and their Pronunciations
The French pronounce words as groups rather than independently from each other. Words link together according to a consonant-vowel-consonant structure or vowel-vowel combination. Learn how it all works!
• Block F: Pronunciation Changes: C and G
The pronunciation of G and C in French could vary depending on the vowel that follows. This workshop focuses on how to get it right.

Workshop 4

• Block G: The French “R”
Most English-speakers find the R in French difficult to pronounce. It can cause great stress. Learn how to pronounce it, so it rolls off the tongue. You will also learn which position in words makes it more or less sonorous.
• Block H: The “E” in French: E/É/È
The sounds E, É et È are studied in detail, especially the difference between É et È.

Workshop 5
• Block I: The “OU” vs “U”
Learn how to differentiate between the French “OU” et “U.”
• Block J: The “E” and “EU”
French learners often neglect to distinguish between the sounds “E” and “EU.” Learn how not to be one of them!

Workshop 6
• Block K: The Nasal Sounds: ON/AN/IN
This workshop tackles an often troubling sound combination for non-native speakers of French. Learn how to pronounce this three nasal sounds once and for all.
• Block L: Les Semivowels: oi/oin – ien/ian – euil/ail/eil/ille/ouille
French contains many sounds combinations. Learn about semivowels, how to recognize them and how to pronounce them better.
