Jennifer Whitehead, Public Affairs Specialist for Region 7, Dallas, Social Security Administration will discuss ways in which libraries can assist patrons in obtaining information about their Social Security questions and concerns. She will also discuss the programs and online applications that SSA has to offer.
Workforce 2010: Assisting Patrons Seeking Employment in Today’s Marketplace
“It’s not only what you know, who you know, or how much you know, but how to put it all together to get a job in today’s information age.” Looking for work on the Internet can be a daunting task. Learn how to assist your patrons in sorting through the massive amounts of job postings on the web and find specific job information (salary, companies, employers, etc., and how to respond to requests for help with resumes or cover letters.
Melody Boren is the Technology Librarian for the Amarillo Public Library. She is an excellent teacher/reference librarian, and has a great deal of knowledge and experience to share regarding assisting adults with technology and Internet resources.
