Adobe® Photoshop Basics

With the steady growth in the digital photography industry, the need for Photoshop knowledge is more in demand than ever.  This seminar is designed to get you up and running with all of the basic tools that you need to be productive in this popular image editing software.

Although this seminar is geared towards the beginner, we will cover some topics that are useful to many users who are already involved in the casual use of Photoshop.  I will provide you with instruction on all of the basic tools and their use with a variety of examples.  You will have the opportunity to use your computer during this seminar, or you can take notes to work on later.  Each student will be seated at a desk with power available, but the computer is optional.

I will present the seminar topics via video with a second projection screen for further demonstration and to answer student questions.  You will also have the opportunity to purchase the module(s) on DVD upon completion of the sessions.

This is just an outline of the topics we'll discuss. Our objective is to make sure you leave with a good grasp of the tools in Photoshop that are most important to you.  Meanwhile, we'll seek to expose you to tools and shortcuts that will become important to you as your experience in Photoshop continues.

I will be teaching this workshop with Photoshop Version 7 or above.  The tools that I'm teaching exist in almost all versions of Photoshop including Elements.  However, the location and function of the tools in Elements will vary dramatically from the full version of Photoshop.  You will still benefit from the workshop if you are using Elements.

You can register for any individual module, or save money by registering for the Full-day.

Student Reviews:

I have taken every class from Jeff and been on a few excursions and have gone from taking hundreds of snapshots hoping for a few keepers, to taking a handful of photographs and most will be keepers. You will not find many people with as much experience in film development, digital, Photoshop, printing, scanning, business, teaching, studio, modeling, product photography, macro, and a tour guide through Kansas. Jeff can even make a drive through western Kansas a wonderful experience and you will come back with stories to pass on.  Mike B.

I have attended Jeff's photography class as well as a couple of workshops. I was a complete novice with my little point and shoot camera. Jeff insisted the camera didn't matter, it was all about trusting yourself to take it off "auto" and learn to really take pictures. The material was presented in a format easy for me to understand with lots of one on one instruction (and with a sense of humor!) He convinced me I was smarter than my camera, and the proof is in the photos. When people look at my photos and tell me I missed my calling and should have been a photographer... well that's a testimony to Jeff!  Lori K.
