“What DO Consequences Look Like?”

When our children were little, a broken rule meant an easy, natural consequence:

  • Misuse of a toy—The child’s toy was taken away
  • The telling of a lie:  Privileges taken away; earned back when child demonstrated trustworthiness
  • Stealing:  Child was made to return the stolen item and write a letter of apology
  • Anger/Temper Tantrum:  Child was given a time out

Somehow, as our children grew into adults, the consequences of their negative behavior have become nearly as unthinkable as the negative behavior. Countless families have discovered SANITY but find they cannot remain consistent in their Action Plans due to......the natural CONSEQUENCES that must happen for their adult child to become responsible for their own choices and behavior.

“What DO Consequences Look Like” LIVE webcast offers participants the opportunity to address Allison Bottke’s four needs on our journey to establishing healthy boundaries with our adult children:

  1. The need to overcome the often paralyzing fear of consequences
  2. The need to accept that there will be consequences and be willing to live with them.
  3. the need to prepare for possible consequences-positive and negative.
  4. The need to focus on the consequences pertaining to our lives, not just the lives of our adult children.

Join Diane Viere, Setting Boundaries’ Online SANITY Support Group Facilitator and Your Partner in SANITY for this critical discussion regarding CONSEQUENCES.  Learn how to:

  • Choose CONSEQUENCES specific to your individual rules and boundaries.
  • Problem solve CONSEQUENCES that have become roadblocks to CONSISTENCY as outlined in your individual Action Plan.
  • Determine what CONSEQUENCES are appropriate and necessary and what SANITY step needs to be revisited to strengthen your Action Plan and maintain SANITY in your home and in your heart!
