HR Fundamentals™ 1 is the first of 4 rotating sessions in the series, although content-rich enough to stand alone. This session will cover all the fundamental aspects of Legislative Compliance as it relates to personnel files, employee handbooks and appropriate policies to include and not include based on employer demographics, which federal and state employment laws must be followed (again based on employer demographics), the basics of how to hire, and automated applicant tracking systems and how they can be a great help, applicant assessments – measure against required competencies, and a beginning discussion about “competencies” in terms of knowing what skills/abilities will be needed to achieve corporate goals. o Cautions – ensure you are using correct assessments
Final hour: Attorney-led case law discussion / Q&A of today’s topics
All participants will be provided a binder of information with reference info to guide them to implement what they’ve learned today. Participants will also be provided an extensive Resource Section with recommendations to specific websites, books, and downloadable items to facilitate their organization’s compliance and their own professional continued learning in these critical areas.
