MarkLogic Server Essentials - Night School

Mark Logic University provides a variety of courses to enable administrators, product managers, and developers to take full advantage of the benefits of Mark Logic products. Courses are designed to deliver deep knowledge of Mark Logic products, toolkits, and connectors, including best practices around design, development and maintenance of an application.

MarkLogic Server Essentials Night School focuses on hands-on exercises and the development of a fully functional application. Students walk away with a firm grasp of the concepts essential for developing applications on MarkLogic. Classes are conducted online in the evenings Eastern Standard Time from 6PM to 9PM, Mon - Thurs, during two sequential weeks.

This class will convene online during the following times:

  • November 29 - December 2, 6PM - 9PM
  • December 6 - 9, 6PM - 9PM

Unit 1: Understanding MarkLogic Server
Unit 2: Setting up MarkLogic Server
Unit 3: Constructing an HTTP Application
Unit 4: Loading Content into a Database
Unit 5: Creating XQuery Files
Unit 6: Creating a Basic Search
Unit 7: Working with Indexes
Unit 8: Snippets, Highlighting, Sorting, and Pagination
Unit 9: Organizing Application Files and Code
Unit 10: Creating Faceted Navigation
Unit 11: Creating an Advanced Search
Unit 12: Updating Database Content
Unit 13: Assigning Application Security

Appendix A: Troubleshooting Techniques
Appendix B: Installing XQDT for Eclipse
Appendix C: Creating a WebDAV Server


Recommended Prerequisites: XQuery, any application server technology, HTML/CSS


Online environment: Students will need to provide their own computer and high-speed internet connection for the class. We recommend two monitors when possible so that students can observe the actions of the instructor at the same time they complete the exercises provided during the class. Printed manuals will be provided prior to the first class.


Terms & Conditions:


Mark Logic Corp. must have received a valid Purchase Order or full payment prior to course commencement. Fees include tuition and training materials. Students are expected to bring their own laptop running Windows natively or in a virtualized environment. A minimum number of candidates are required for each class. Mark Logic Corp. reserves the right to cancel classes up to 10 working days prior to the published start date. If this happens candidates are entitled to a full refund. Should the candidate cancel his/her place on the course in writing giving at least 10 working days notice they will be eligible for a full refund. Candidates who cancel within the 10 day period before the course will forfeit 50% of the course fee paid. Substitution candidates are allowed. No credit will be provided for students who miss classes.
