THE FOOD HEROES
Definition (noun): People who produce the kind of food once served in simple restaurants and in
homes by housewives, now, by grandmothers, by families for generations, and today by people -
culinary artisans - choosing to do the hard work required to live off the best their hands can
produce.
THE EVENT
Enjoy a hosted bar with wine from Terroir and food tastings from local artisans!
An Evening with Food Heroes is a celebration of Bay Area culinary masters who have devoted their
hands and hearts to their craft. The night honors the release of Food Heroes, a book by Georgia Pellegrini that chronicles her global travels in pursuit of the world’s Food Heroes. The author will be there to tell her stories first-hand and sign copies of her newly released book.
Proceeds from tasting tickets will benefit the Edible Schoolyard, a one-acre garden and kitchen classroom at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School in Berkeley, California. It is a program of the Chez Panisse Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by chef and author Alice Waters, and all proceeds from the event will be donated to them.
