Social Media at National Museums Scotland

Does your museum tweet? Have you Stumbledupon Flickr or blogged about the latest viral video on YouTube? Social media is fast-becoming a necessity for most organisations in the 21st century, and many museums feel that they cannot afford to be left behind in this phenomenon. Would you like to find out more about how National Museums Scotland began its social media presence and hear about our experience of promoting our collections in this way?

This workshop, part of our ‘2011 afternoon series’, invites you to join members of the Digital Media team at National Museums Scotland for an informal discussion on how they have approached interaction with the online community through social media sites and find out what’s worked for them.  The event is also intended to facilitate wider networking between colleagues in the Scottish sector who are interested in developing services in this field.  All are welcome.

Please visit www.nms.ac.uk/training for full course details

National Museums Scotland

Partnerships both home and abroad ensure our collections reach as many people as possible.

National Museums Scotland's current partnership activity is extensive. Through touring exhibitions, loans, support and dedicated activity programmes, we are able to introduce our collections to a much wider audience than can walk through the doors of our museums. Our partnerships also help boost skills, enabling us to share knowledge and experience across the museums community.
