Why Should You Flickr, Blog, Tweet, Digg and Stumble?

Learn what social media and networking really means for workplace learning and performance… and why you can’t afford to be in the dark a minute longer.  Due to popular demand, Rob Anderson (PEMCO) and Debra Aker (PEMCO) expand on their June 2010 ASTDps ICE presentation.

Elements. Equipment. Edutainment. The last decade has brought a multitude of changes in technology and in the learning function.

 In this Technology SIG, you’ll…
  • Learn how to harness and leverage “social  elements” such as  Vimeo, Flickr, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and many more.
  • Gain hands-on experience with low-cost, high-impact equipment.
  • Come away with increased confidence, competence and creativity.
  • Be prepared to rock social media at a whole new level for workplace learning & performance.
  • Share your story and tales of organizational results achieved through learning and performance projects via Reel Results, the ASTDps social media documentary.
What’s Your REEL RESULTS Story?

ASTDps is producing a social media documentary that we call Reel Results. Each participant in this SIG will develop an Employee Learning Week Reel Results story/product plus explore the many possibilities for social media use.

ELW Reel Results Description:

As part of the Chapter's evolving Employee Learning Week efforts, in the weeks to come members like you will have opportunities to tell on camera your story about how learning has brought about proven, positive change at work. Through your participation you will advance the WLP profession by "highlighting the important connection between learning and achieving organizational results." (The quote is from the Employee Learning Week awareness campaign purpose statement.)
What makes a great Reel Results story?  Here is a template to guide you in making notes for the critical elements of your Reel Results story:
  • As a rule-of-thumb, the average 2- to 3-minutes long spoken success story is based on a one- to two-page, double-spaced set of notes to tell the “who, what, where, when, and how” of the tale.
  • What’s the basic story?  Increasing company revenues? Closing a skills gap? Improving organizational processes or climate? Some other performance issue?
  • What was the major learning/performance objective?
  • How was the learning program/performance intervention developed?
  • How was the program/intervention conducted?
  • What were the results, both quantitative and qualitative? What impact did the intervention have?
Bring your own outstanding, even classic, business case that needs to be preserved and disseminated for future reference.  That's part of our goal in trying to portray, through the power of the emerging social media, what our profession is capable of accomplishing.
Now is your chance to be a part of ASTDps history! ASTDps wants to capture on video the tales from members like you of organizational results achieved through learning and performance projects.
It’s your turn to harness the magic!
Only 15 spots are available for this highly experiential event. The session will sell-out so please register promptly.
