Social Media's Impact on Training & Education

Will what you don't know hurt your business?

 

The Milwaukee Education & Training Organization is pleased to announce a special hands-on training event featuring Social Media and its impact on today's businesses.  Please note, you will need to bring your laptop to sit in on the hands-on sessions.  Continental breakfast will be provided courtesy of Manpower, Inc.

 

When registering for this event, you will be asked which sessions you would like to enroll in.

Agenda of Events:

7:30 a.m. - 7:50 a.m.: Registration & networking


7:50 a.m. - 8:10 p.m.: Introduction of METRO and the day's events.  Manpower will also discuss their utilization of Social Media.


8:15 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.: Social Media Revisted.

Join our panel from last year to discuss how their social media uses have changed in just 12 months.Panel includes Tom Snyder, Michael Phelps and Rachael Jurek.

9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.: Keynote Presentation: Jane Bozarth, "Social Media for Trainers"

 Jane Bozarth has recently published a book entitled "Social Media for Trainers."  She will be joining
 us via satellite for an interactive discussion on how trainers can utilize social media in their businesses.

10:00 a.m. - 10:50 a.m.: Break out sessions (Round 1)

 - The Legal Ramifications of Social Media (lecture)
What are the implications of Social Media on your work environment?  What laws are currently in place?  What should your company be doing for social media policies?  Should your company develop social media policies?  Lecture by corporate lawyer, John Kalter of Godfrey & Kahn

 - LinkedIn for Training & Education (hands-on)
You have a LinkedIn account but what can you do with it now?  Bring your laptop for this interactive workshop that features excercises to help you get familiar with LinkedIn's capabilities.  Most importantly, get tips and tricks to find out how LinkedIn can work towards your advantage in the training and education fields.  Instruction by Michael Phelps, leading consultant in LinkedIn training.

- Twitter in Training & Education (hands-on)
What is a "Twitter" and how can it help you?  How do you even get started and what do you do after you have your account?  This hands-on workshop brings you through setting up an account and using it to develop your business.  We'll also focus on Twitter's impact on the training & education industries.  Instruction by Twitter Guru Tom Snyder of Trivera Interactive.

You are starting to wonder if the payoff is worth the investment.  In this hands-on workshop you'll learn what the benefits are and time management tools available to help you execute a strategically planned campaign using social media platforms.  Instruction by Jamey Shiels of Aurora Health Care.

- Foursquare - what is it? How do I use it? (hands-on)

The latest social media craze, Foursquare has been all the buzz with "mayors," "check-ins," "badges" and more - but what is it and how can you use it for your business?  Will it have any impact on training & education?  Learn about Foursquare, set up your account and discuss the potential impact on training & education with this hands-on workshop.  Instruction by social media maven, Katie Felten.
