INTRODUCING THE SCHOOL FOR PASTOR-CHAPLAINS
AUGUST 13-14, 2010 at the Colorado Baptist General Convention Office
Chaplaincy is not just for laity. Several Colorado pastors,
with the support of their congregations, have chosen to serve as
Chaplains because of the benefits to their ministry: more contact with
the unchurched, surprising receptivity within community, and the
enrichment of their sermons.
Colorado Baptists is inaugurating a school for Pastor-Chaplains at the same time, but separate from the annual School for New Chaplains. Faculty members have graciously offered to double their teaching in order to offer material tailored specifically for the pastoral setting, realizing also the demands of this ministry often carried on in a bi-vocational setting.
Chaplain ministry does not have to be a 24/7, on-call or even a weekly ministry. A pastor can often carve out a chaplaincy role that will fit his particular setting.
