Event Details

Join local bicyclists, elected officials, and staff for an evening ride through the City of Spokane Valley.

The ride will start and end at City Hall. We will assemble in the rear parking lot. At 5:30pm we will start with a safety orientation, then we will put groups of 8-10 rides on the road at intervals.

Each group will have experienced cyclists familiar with the route and skilled at riding with traffic on city streets.

We have 2 routes to choose from: (1) a 5-mile route with almost all right turns; (2) an 11 mile route with a greater variety of streets and features.

Both routes are mostly flat---we gain about 100 feet in elevation on a gradual incline. There are no significant hills to climb or descend. We will ride some streets with bike lanes, some quiet residential streets, and some busier streets suitable for bikes.

We need plenty of experienced cyclists to help lead these small groups of riders. Marc Mims will be pre-riding the course every Monday, Thursday, and Friday at 6pm until the day of the event to familiarize cyclists with the route.  Meet him in the parking lot behind City Hall (11707 E Sprague Ave).  If you can help, please join us for a pre-ride.

Since this ride will be conducted on city streets, it is not suitable for children. Inexperienced riders, 16 and older, who would like to learn to ride safely on city streets are welcome.

Bike helmets are required.

Bicycle Alliance of Washington

The Bicycle Alliance advocates for bicyclists and a bike-friendly Washington.

We do this in the following ways:

  • Advocate for adequate funding for a complete non-motorized transportation infrastructure.
  • Provide Washington residents a statewide clearinghouse for bicycle education and advocacy.
  • Work to increase percentage of all types of bicycle ridership in Washington.
  • Ensure that bicycles are recognized as a reasonable and mainstream transportation option.
  • Educate communities in Washington to become bicycle-friendly and embrace a Share the Road philosophy.

Bicycle Alliance members believe that bicycling in Washington is inexpensive, healthy and fun, and that bicycles are a viable transportation alternative.
