Owens, founder and chief designer of amo-ink, was born and raised in Mt. Vernon, Indiana, She's always had an affinity for making things prettier, whether it’s a building or a brochure. After graduating from Ball State University with a degree in architecture, she spent a few years traveling the world and working in the field. While her experiences as an architect were compelling, they didn’t allow as much creative freedom as she’d hoped.

When she became engaged in 2002, she was frustrated by the lack of fresh, creative wedding invitations offered by local paper shops. To truly set herself event apart, she realized my fiancée and I would have to create their own. During the process, she was thrilled to find the creative outlet she’d been missing. Friends began asking her to design their invitations, and soon her husband Paul and she found ourselves creating custom wedding stationery as a side business.
