EVERY TAIL HAS A TALE TO TELL!
Written and produced by Maryland-based playwright Empress Joyner, "The Ass Chronicles" is a liberating, healing and comedic depiction of the struggles, loves and woes of a woman's life through dealing with her "ass" against the world. Joyner shares her personal story and those of others through the lens of several compelling and telling vignettes dealing with social issues such as rape and mutilation. Other monologues deal with issues about sex, love, positive self-esteem and puberty. A recurring theme throughout the play is the butt's use as a tool for female empowerment and the ultimate embodiment of individuality.

After being cast as a member of the New York-based "The Vagina Monologues," Joyner decided to tell her own story. "I was compelled to write this piece, because so many talk about women's issues from other perspectives. And while I was in a similar production, it didn’t necessarily reflect my struggles because my ass was always the "butt" of all the attention--whether wanted or unwarranted. Because of my experiences, I just wanted to share these stories with the world in hopes of encouraging women to embrace themselves, their unique body type and have a positive self-image."
