Pizza Chefs: It's all about the toppings

Pizza is an American food staple and a beloved favorite amongst many families. It’s not only convenient, but it’s delicious, too. This time, Ger-Nis is putting down the take-out menu and hanging up the phone, and in turn, getting our ovens hot and rolling out some dough in order to make gourmet pizzas in-house. Ger-Nis will provide the warm soft dough for our pizza chefs to make their creations upon. In this class, it’s what’s on top that matters, colorful vegetables, hearty meat and fragrant herbs are the toppings of choice. The kids reign supreme today and will be the chef in charge of their own pizza design. This class is all about fun, experimentation and some wild pizza combinations.

A pizza lover herself, Tina DeGraff, Culinary Assistant at Ger-Nis Culinary & Herb Center enjoys the simplicity of making pizza at home, from the dough to all the mouth-watering toppings. In the span of her career, she has traveled the country and has worked at Michelin star restaurants in San Francisco and Los Angeles, along with notable restaurants in Washington DC. She has honed her skills working with highly acclaimed chefs in fine dining kitchens, both in savory and pastry. Deciding to step out of the fast paced kitchen culture, she now brings her talents to the classroom setting, teaching on healthy eating and mindful thinking when it comes to our diets. The kitchen is her favorite place to be besides lounging on the beach. When Tina isn’t cooking, she enjoys being in the outdoors, biking, running or hiking. Contact Tina
