You've heard of the hundred mile diet and eating locally grown foods, we'll join new world order-the DD revolution! "Stand against the establishment's system of over processed food. Reject the propaganda that makes us believe healthy means expensive. Down with shipping ingredients across the globe and no more industrialization of our individual nourishment!"

The Daily Dose is on our next stop for FoodStuff in downtown LA. Chef Christian Page is leading the "locavore" charge and sounding the cow bell, literally! The next FoodStuff installment, held at Daily Dose at the Biscuit Lofts, is sure to make your mouth water. At this FoodStuff we'll be serving up cucumber and corn salad with basil dressing, roasted fingerling potatoes and garlic with blue cheese, Delmonico steaks, flat iron steaks, Mock & Petite tender, and ground chuck burgers. Why so meaty? Because in true locavore style Page is serving up a chuck section of beef, fresh off the butcher's block. He'll be giving a live demonstration breaking down a beef chuck while he schools us on the importance of eating and buying local foods and how to source the best goods in LA.

Greeting guests will be John DeBruin of Dey Dey's Best Beef Ever! and is prize lowland mini cow Betsy. Also making an appearance is Gertrude and Hilda, two local hens from PPC's Urban Farm and Randal St.Clair of Capay Organics-talk about fresh goods!

The term "Locavore" was the word of the year in the Oxford American Dictionary in 2007. Perhaps you have heard it used now and then. The "locavore" movement, along with the recent wave of "eco-consciousness" that has hit the U.S. and elsewhere, encourages consumers to grow their own food and to buy locally. The term was the creation of Jessica Prentice at the time of the 2005 World Environment Day in San Francisco, and it serves to embody the sentiments of those who wish to stay off the industrial, mass-produced food grid like one pioneering foodie, Chef Christian Page of Daily Dose who's cooking up some amazing dishes.

Page's new establishment Daily Dose or D2 is rooted in locavorism-the idea that fresh, local products are not only more nutritious and ultimately taste better, but buying food close to where it is grown also cuts down on the environmental impact.

Join Chef Page and his farm friends for a plate of local best at Living La Vida Local Saturday, Oct 2nd at FoodStuff LA. Eating and buying locally grown food can mean several different things; find out what it means to you.
