Do you want to learn some camping skills or sharpen the skills you already have? Then join us for this 2 day, 1 night Camping and Survival Clinic in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

This clinic was designed for people who want to learn the skills needed to venture into the back-country. Basic backpacking skills and equipment use will be instructed, as well as fundamental survival skills. This will include survival philosophy, the survival mindset, and practical techniques for finding water, shelter, food, and the way home.

Sample Itinerary (subject to change):
“Brief navigation and planning discussion at trail-head. Compasses will be distributed and we'll talk about keeping from getting lost. We'll also discuss considerations for how and what to pack on a trip. We will hike the creek for a while, and then take a break to go over "water procurement". We'll cover both commercial purification systems and emergency purification techniques. At other points we will discus other survival considerations such as finding food, and getting found if lost. Near the end of the first day hike we'll relax near Sunfish Pond. From there we'll continue to the designated backpacking site and set camp. Either that evening or in the morning we will do a clinic on survival shelters. The itinerary will be flexible, and instruction will be conducted sporadically as not to detract from enjoyment and relaxation. Remember, this is not a full on survival experience, but a guided backpacking experience with an emphasis on emergency survival skills.”
