Home visitation is a cornerstone of early intervention services. Becoming an effective home visitor is a process that takes place throughout one’s professional career. At times you may feel like you are all alone as you move from one home to the next. Join us as we review research based home visitation strategies, discuss different approaches, successes and challenges with your colleagues, and hear what it is like to be on the receiving end of the services from families. The learning environment will also include case studies, small group discussion, and opportunities for networking.

By the end of the workshop, participants will:
1) Know effective arrival to departure practices for family-centered, home visitation.
2) Have learned the three components of effective helpgiving.
3) Be able to identify five major pitfalls of helpgiving and know how to avoid them.
4) Receive ten affirmations to keep themselves energized.
