Big City Forum and Pink Cloud will be hosting a fundraiser dinner for Taking the Reins. TtR is a remarkable non-profit that develops self-esteem, teamwork, responsibility and leadership skills for teenage girls at risk through learning to ride and care for horses, sustainable gardening, and art lessons. Photo based artist Alia Malley and landscape architect Mia Lehrer will be presenting to the group.
The goal of this benefit and presentation is to highlight the
outstanding accomplishments by these two creative leaders, present
positive creative role models to young girls in the TtR program, and
expand the profile of Taking the Reins by exposing it to a larger
creative community.
The evening at a glance:
- Inspiring presentations by speakers Mia Lehrer and Alia Malley in an elegant-rustic barn
- Stable & Garden tours led by the students at Taking the Reins
- Catering by Large Marge Sustainables
- Libations courtesy of Biergarten Pub in KTown
The menu is as
follows:
Drink: Minted meyer lemonade (can be paired with Veev, vodka, gin or even rum)
Salad: sweet orange flesh melon, basil and cucumber salad with lime vinaigrette, pickled red onion, sel de mer and crushed red pepper
Fish: cedar-planked slow-roasted tilapia with mint cilantro chutney
Side 1: de Puy lentil and garbanzo dal with miniature Yukon gold potatoes and golden beets
Side 2: grilled green beans and red onions
Dessert: peach and blueberry cobbler with mint-infused pouring cream and grand marnier whipped cream
