Software Usability: From Theory to Practice (Valparaiso, Chile)

Event 1:

Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (Escuela de Ingeniería Informática) organizes the conference “Software Usability: From Theory to Practice”. It will present recent researches on applied software usability in Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. Program includes:  

Part One – November 8, 2pm, Room IBC 2-1: (1)   Cristian Rusu: A Systematic Approach to Usability Practices, (2)   Rodrigo Alegre: Usability in e-commerce, (3)   Carmen Benavides: User–centered development of web systems, (4)   Juan Gonzalez: Tool for automatic usability evaluations, (5)   Claudia Mena: Languages for interaction modeling, (6)   Jaime Norambuena: Usability in financial software, (7)   Johanna Toledo: Software accessibility for students with hearing disabilities, (8)   Cristian Urbina: Usability evaluations of software for mobile devices, (9)   Eduardo Zamora: Web Usage Mining  for web usability evaluations

 Part Two – November 10, 1.30pm, Room IBC 2-1: (1)  Marcelo Garrido, Juan Luis Martínez: Usability practice in the Chilean Web industry, (2)  Andrei Ferreira: Usability and security in software systems, (3)   Laura Griffiths: Web-mail usability, (4)   Marcela Ponce: Usability in CMMI, (5)   Marcos Sarzoza: Web-mail communicability, (6)   Lorena Soto: Usability and accessibility in e-learning platforms, (7)   Natalia Villagran: Usability in e-portfolios

 

Event 2: November 8, 10am - 6pm, Usability Labs, Escuela de Ingenieria Informatica, Third Floor  

Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso organizes an open house of the Usability Labs at Escuela de Ingeniería Informática. These are the very first Software Usability Labs in the Central area of Chile, and some of the very few existing in Chile.  

Event 3: November 8, 5pm, Escuela de Ingenieria Informatica, Room IBC 2-1

A foundational meeting of the Human-Computer Interaction Research Group will be organized at Escuela de Ingeniería Informática, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso.

"Making Life Easy!" World Usability Day was founded to ensure that the services and products important to life are easier to access and simpler to use. World Usability Day was founded in 2005 as an initiative of the Usability Professionals' Association (UPA).
