This workshop combines presentations, case studies, discussion and practical exercises to give participants a deeper understanding of the role and duties of an Interim Executive Director. Participants will gain insight into the executive transition cycle: how an Executive Director leaves, how Boards and staff experience this transition and how to optimize the transition for the incoming Executive Director. 

Program topics include:

  • Executive Transition Management Process
  • Differences in role of Interim Executive Director and Executive Director  
  • Getting Started as an Interim Executive Director  
  • Tools  and Resources for the Interim Executive Director
  • Professional development through the Interim Executive Director role

Who should attend: Current and former nonprofit Executive Directors, current Interim Executive Directors who are seeking opportunities to broaden their experience, develop their careers, and gain a deeper understanding of nonprofit organizations in transition.
