Event Details

The term “Baby Mama” is commonly used to refer to single black mothers. This term carries a strong negative judgment of the supposedly “irresponsible” choices these women have made in their lives. Resilience: Stories of Black Single Mothers is a documentary film which tells the true stories of single black mothers. We become witness to their struggles, their strengths, their complexities and their determination to build rich and rewarding lives for themselves and their families. The film focuses on the compelling stories of two women living in Toronto, Canada: Nancy and Simone.
