Announcing the November Edition of "Lunch with the General!"

This continuing quarterly series, sponsored by the Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Greater Charlotte,  features Marine Corps general officers speaking on Marine Corps-related topics of the day. The event also provides an opportunity for Marines -- active, retired and former -- and interested members of the public at large to network and share comraderie.  The event is open to the general public, so we urge you to also invite interested friends and colleagues to join you for the presentation.

This quarter's speaker is Major General Dennis J Hejlik, USMC, who will be introduced by Ms Moira Quinn, COO of Charlotte Center City Partners.

Major General Hejlik is approaching the 40-mark of active duty as a United States Marine.  He began his career as an enlisted Marine, and was later commissioned as an officer.  Along the way, he amassed unrivaled broad experience as an infantry officer with extensive knowledge of operations (particularly special operations), as well as logistics, personnel, foreign relations and terrorism.  He is a graduate of Amphibious Warfare School, Command and Staff College and Naval War College, and his decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal with Gold Star, Legion of Merit with Gold Star, Meritorious Service Medal with two Gold Stars, Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and the coveted Leftwich Award.

This month’s presentation promises to be particularly interesting.  Not only does Gen Hejlik command Marines currently engaged in operations around the world, but he’ll be briefing luncheon attendees on details of the still-new Marine Corps Special Operations Command (MARSOC).  Stood up only a year ago, most Americans, and even many Marines are still not familiar with the organization and mission of MARSOC.  This is truly a rare opportunity for Charlotteans to gain tremendous insight.

Because of the unique nature of this presentation, we anticipate an early sell-out – so please register promptly! On-line registration closes November 13th; luncheon-day registration is not available!  Simply click on the "Google Checkout" button, above; you'll then be given the option of selecting your preferred credit card for payment.

Parking for the luncheon is free but if you prefer, valet parking is available for $5.00 at the entrance of the restaurant.

Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Greater Charlotte

The Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Greater Charlotte, a 501(c )(3) nonprofit, is comprised of individuals with an interest in supporting Marines and their families, and promoting the Marine Corps ethos, in general. To that end, they sponsor the Semper Fi Challenge Series consisting of the winter Marine Buddy Challenge, the spring Marine Ultimate Team Challenge and the summer Marine Mud Challenge. In more cerebral endeavors, the Council also periodically sponsors "Lunch with the General" events, featuring both active and retired Marine Corps general officers speaking on topics ranging from current Marine Corps issues to everyday leadership recommendations. During 2008, these luncheons were be held at Maggiano's Little Italy, South Park Mall, Charlotte NC; they are open to the public. Not only do the luncheons help get the Marine Corps' story out, but they provide invaluable opportunities for Marines and former Marines to gather, network, and swap "war stories," in an acknowledgement of the axiom, "Once a Marine, Always a Marine."

Membership in the Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Greater Charlotte is open to all Marines, former Marines, retired Marines, and any card-carrying member of their immediate families. Associate membership is available for any member of the public wishing to help support Council endeavors. More information is available at
