NOTE: The information for this event has changed! We have information that the Foss Lake (Big Heart Lake) trail is heavily damaged and dangerous to hikers. We now will be traveling to the Ross Lake Recreation Area in the North Cascades National Park and hiking the East Bank Trail.
This trail covers over 30 miles of ground, but campsites are plentiful along the way and the trail is considered "Easy" despite its length. It winds beside Ross Lake and includes mountain valleys, small alpine lakes, and the option of climbing Desolation Peak and checking out its fire lookout station. Cost is $30, which covers fees, bear bag rental, and gas for carpooling. Campers are responsible for their own meals, though hot water will be provided for cooking.
