Foundation Failures - Case Studies
Presenter: Larry Johnsen, P.E.
Larry will discuss several case studies of foundation and earth retention system failures in which geotechnical issues were dominant.
About the Speaker:
Larry Johnsen is principal and co-founder of Heller and Johnsen, Geotechnical Engineering Consultants, in Stratford, CT.
Larry Johnsen was the engineer-of-record for the first North American application of jet grouting for underpinning and excavation support, and has introduced deep dynamic compaction to Southern New England. In 1996, Larry Johnsen co-authored with James Graham a widely used vinyl sheet piling design manual. Larry Johnsen is past-chairman of the ASCE-GeoInstitute Grouting Committee and the Deep Foundation Institute Codes and Standards Committee, as well as, co-chair of the organizing committee for the 4th International Conference on Grouting and Ground Improvement to be held in 2012. Larry is an active member of the Structural Engineers Coalition of ACEC/CT, and serves on the Code Advisory Committee. He previously was President of the Geotechnical Engineers Coalition of ACEC/CT. Larry is a licensed Professional Engineer in Connecticut and numerous other states.
