Jon Ellis is the co-founder of Jiva Technology, an education web start-up based in Bristol. It is a business that was conceived around the kitchen table, raised Angel funding and recruited key staff. It has translated the original vision into reality with the launch of tutorhub.com, an innovative online tutoring service for GCSE and A level students.
Life at Jiva is very different to his previous career at a major high street bank. Making the leap from corporate life to the world of web startups has completely changed his outlook on business and life. He will tell you about his experiences and be available to answer your questions
Peter Curnow-Ford works to add shareholder value to technology focused organisations in the Telecoms/Wireless space by working with founders to build management team, business plans, go to market strategy, investor ready company, funding and business development: an Entrepreneur with a heavy dose of pragmatism, good ideas person, target driven with an agile approach to strategy and tactical execution. He has previously held senior positions in the Telecoms and IT industry, in at LLC International Inc, ntl Group inc, Nortel Networks, Logica and ICL-Fujistu and is currently an Executive and Non-Executive Director of Several wireless start-ups.
He will be sharing his experiences of working with young technology businesses and also telling us about his work with Innovation Partnerships.

Roles available: 1) UK CEO/Sales Director needed for a forward-thinking company specialising in Wi-FI based tracking solutions for Healthcare and Education. Working remotely, this role is paying a mixture of cash, bonus and share options. An opportunity for an entrepreneur with technological and sales experience to get involved in all functions of the company. 2) Two trustee roles (one Treasurer and one standard Trustee) required for an inspiring organisation whose aim is to revolutionise careers advice provided to young people. Working remotely, one day a month with bi-monthly trustee meetings, you will be paid a mixture of salary, commission and equity as well as expenses. 3) A business, which offers new ways for small and large corporate companies to accelerate their growth, is recruiting for a number of exciting vacancies. These include: Non-Executive Directors, Two Investment Directors, Communications Manager and Team Managers. Working remotely, full and part time positions available, paying a consultancy day rate plus equity. 4) Managing Director and Chief Operations Officer needed for a ground-breaking company, which recently invented a life-saving motorcycle helmet. These full-time roles are based in Sussex paying milestone bonuses, shared equity and expenses. The suitable candidate will have experience of manufacturing off shore, project management and managing director duties. 5) Sales and Business Development Manager required for one of the leading parking information provider’s. This is an exiting opportunity to work on a part-time, remote basis, paying commission and equity. 6) Business Development Manager/MD. This is a full-time job, working remotely on salaried/commission/equity-based pay or a mixture of all three. (Will consider part-time hours if necessary). The successful candidate needs to know how to take products into the healthcare market. Face to face sales experience essential. |
