James Fallows

The Atlantic Monthly Jul 2007

James Fallows is one of America’s most distinguished and influential writers on the major issues of the day. He is International Correspondent and former Washington Editor (1979-1996) of the renowned American journal The Atlantic Monthly. He has been editor of the Washington Monthly and from 1996 to 1998 was editor of US News and World Report. He was chief speechwriter for the President of the United States (Jimmy Carter). He is also the founding chairman of the New America Foundation , a non-profit group based in Washington DC. He has won the National Magazine Award and the American Book Award. He is the author of eight books and hundreds of articles on such topics as the Internet, Japan, Asian economies, Congress, the Pentagon, aviation and travel, and the state of America's media; the most recent book being “Blind into Baghdad: America’s War in Iraq” (Vintage, 2006).

He is the author of the cover story on China (titled “Why China’s rise is good for us”) in the current issue of The Atlantic Monthly. Raised in California, he studied American history and literature at Harvard College, where he was editor of the Harvard Crimson, and was a Rhodes Scholar at Queens College, Oxford. He has a blog with a commentary on world affairs and his current life in Shanghai (where he has spent the last year).

Chris Devonshire-Ellis, founder of Dezan Shira & Associates, one of China’s best known business consultancies, and publisher of China Briefing. Previously with Asia Law & Practice in Hong Hong, he established Dezan Shira in 1992 and developed it into the national and internationally recognized firm it is today. He writes a column for Beijing Review and has contributed to such publications as the Wall Street Journal, The Daily Telegraph and the South China Morning Post.

Ian Lee

Ian Lee is presently Finance Director (China) for OMD, part of Omnicom, the world's largest marketing and communications services group. Previous to this position he was with News Corporation for some six years in various capacities, including Senior Vice President and acting CFO for STAR TV (China). Chinese born and bred, with an early interest in zoology and endangered species, his university education includes Chinese, British and Australian qualifications.

Morry Morgan

Morry Morgan, co-founder of ClarkMorgan, started in Shanghai six years ago and now the largest corporate training company in China (in the English language) with eleven offices throughout the country. Morry is an Australian, a science graduate of RMIT, and has worked closely with hundreds of companies, both Chinese and major multinationals, to establish effective corporate standards in their English presentation.
