Event Details

Join us as Dave shares a recap of career highlights as a freelance photographer including Olympic coverage selects from 12 Olympic Games. He will address lighting including Small Flash, Arena Sport Strobes and Lightpainting, along with recent projects, such as Ice Climbing in Ouray, a travel piece in Egypt and my involvement with National Geographic’s most recent book Where Valor Rests Arlington National Cemetery in which he was asked to make a photographic essay by Lightpaint Arlington at night. His presentation is designed to inform, educate and entertain for approximately 90 minutes with an audience Q&A to follow. About Dave Black: “I love to make pictures.” Dave Black’s education in Commercial Graphics Design and Studio Drawing lend well to his vision of photography. “I love to make pictures that draw the audience in for a closer look at a moment in time.” Known for his creative use of lighting and in particular with the artistic technique of Lightpainting, Dave’s portfolio continues to broaden including work for the National Geographic and their book Where Valor Rests, Arlington National Cemetery. Dave has been a teacher and guest lecturer on photography since 1986 at numerous workshops including Rich Clarkson’s Photography at the Summit and Sports Photography Workshops and with American PHOTO magazine’s Mentor series of international workshops. He is one of Nikon’s “Legends Behind the Lens” photographers and is closely involved with the next generation of photojournalists by teaching and lecturing at Colleges and Universities each year. His monthly website tutorial pages “Workshop at the Ranch” and “On the Road” attract more than 100,000 unique visitors monthly.
