Michael E. Kitces, MSFS, MTAX, CFP, CLU, ChFC, RHU, REBC, CASL, CWPP is Director of Financial Planning for Pinnacle Advisory Group, a private wealth management firm located in Columbia, Maryland that oversees more than $550 million of client assets. He is an active writer and editor and has been featured in publications including Financial Planning, the Journal of Financial Planning, Journal of Retirement Planning, Practical Tax Strategies, Leimberg Information Services, as well as The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, CNBC PowerLunch, NBC Nightly News and more. In addition, Michael is co-author with John Olsen of "The Annuity Advisor", the first balanced and objective book on annuities written for attorneys, accountants, and financial planners.

As the use of annuities increases, particularly amongst baby boomers planning for retirement, professional advisors face more and more situations where they must properly report on and plan for annuity transactions. However, annuities are subject to unique rules of taxation. In this session, we will cover the income and estate tax treatment of both deferred and immediate annuities during life and death, with a particular focus on the complex rules and significant areas of ambiguity that apply to post-death distribution requirements from deferred annuities.

Kathryn Kilpatrick, MA, CCC, SLP will kick off our afternoon sessions. She is the author of over 30 products sold nationally, including "Walking the Path to Memory Fitness One Week at a Time" and recently created Memory Fitness Matters to meet the needs of those interested in learning more about brain health and successful aging.

Ms. Kilpatrick's topic "Multitasking or Dementia" will help spot red flags of memory loss or just busy lives...

Mr. Zmistowski is an authorized presenter for InFRE. He created and presented "Retirement Income Planning and Management" at the 2005 FPA Annual Convention in San Diego, which drew the largest registration of any previous FPA pre-conference workshop. He has written for and been quoted extensively by the Journal of Financial Planning, AICPA Journal, The IARFC Register, Entrepreneur magazine, Washington Post, Financial Advisor magazine, Dow Jones Investment Advisor, The Wall Street Journal, local newspapers, television news, and USA Today.

Mr. Zmistowski is actively involved in the Financial Planning Association's Membership Advisory Group, Chairman of National Financial Planning Week 2008 and Advisory Director of FPA of Florida. A Securities Principal with the National Association of Securities Dealers and representative of an Investment Advisory firm, Mr. Zmistowski has been in private practice for 26 years designing and implementing financial plans.

His topic HELPING RETIREMENT SAVINGS LAST A LIFETIME is the focus that every Retirement Advisor must have for thier clients retired today as well as for the 76 million baby boomers getting ready to retire in the years to come. But, retirement income management is a complex task - there is no single product solution or "one size fits all" strategy. New skills will be needed for this rapidly expanding market. Retirement Advisors who possess those skills will be in demand, and organizations with trained advisors will be preferred.

The Introduction to Managing Retirement Income Course is a one-hour session designed to help an advisor recognize how retirement distribution planning is different from retirement accumulation planning. Participants are introduced to the challenges of managing income over a period of uncertain length and expense as well as how the definition of risk changes during retirement. One take-away solution summarized during the course is that the answer to retirement income management is not just "asset allocation", but also "income allocation". This course is a must for any advisor who wants to capture a share of this growing market with unlimited opportunities.
