We are delighted to be hosting the first StartUpWeekend in Toronto,
Canada on the weekend of September 14/15/16, 2007. It is based on the
original StartUpWeekend concept out of Boulder, Colorado that started it all on the weekend of July 7/8. To quote the originators:
"Startup
Weekend is an idea, an experiment, a chance to get together and create
something beautiful over one jam packed weekend."
The plan is to
facilitate an intense weekend of programming, designing, brainstorming,
ideas, marketing and entrepreneurship to get an internet startup
running in 1 weekend! (Thanks to StartUpWeekendChicago for the description and we are borrowing heavily for some of the other content - many thanks to Jordan.)
This
site will be used to organize participation, set up the parameters,
gameplan and goals for the startup company and submit suggestions for
the "product" that will be selected as the focus of the weekend.
Everyone who registers will be able to share ideas and have a say on
the final product selection. Those who contribute and complete the
weekend marathon will receive "founders" shares for their efforts.
If
you have skills to bring, live/work in the Greater Toronto Area or are
willing to make the pilgrimage, then we are interested in having you
attend. Just click on the registration link to sign up (and see the
list of skills needed). If you need help with accomodation or want to
hook up with others to get here (or offer a ride) just let us know.
We
have a great large location that is easy to get to in downtown Toronto
and will post landing instructions as we get closer to the date. It
would be most appreciated if you would spread the word about this event
to any good programmer, designer, developer, business person/serial
entrepreneur, marketing/advertising/pr, legal beagle or other
entrepreneurially inclined individuals.
ATTENDANCE MAY BE LIMITED BASED ON RESPONSE.
